Spring Break 2013 - The Run Down

Spring Break could not have come at a better time.  I will be so thankful when this school year is over.  It has not been the easiest, but I am sure that my taking classes full time in addition to more demands due to restructuring of our positions has not helped at all.  I knew without a doubt my first thing to do during Spring Break was to just enjoy my kids.  Every break we get I always jump head first into cleaning and organizing the house which usually overtakes the entire break and we get very little time to play.  That was not going to happen this year! The trick was finding Spring Break activities to do in the COLD! It was freezing almost every morning, but beautiful weather in the afternoon, but you still needed a light jacket for most of the week.

Monday - The morning started early with an 8am dentist appointment for Josh.  Jordonna and I knocked out grocery shopping while he was there. Tony was invited to go play with a friend, so Jordonna and I packed a picnic lunch and headed to the park.  She played on the playground, we fed a few ducks who thankfully were calm this day, we sat on our blanket to eat our picnic and just giggle.  Later that afternoon, we met the Fulton's at McDonald's for ice cream and so they could play together.

Tuesday - We slept in as much as 2 little ones allow you to sleep in.  (Actually, I should say as much as Tony will let me sleep in because Jordonna begs for 2 more minutes at 9am.)  After packing another picnic lunch, we headed north to meet the Fulton's again.  We had plans to pick strawberries at the strawberry patch, eat a picnic lunch, and then is there was time and the kids still had energy we would go jump.  After a quick tour of the Fulton's new beautiful home and switching kids and cars around we were headed towards the patch, but the traffic was so backed up trying to get into the patch that we decided to take the kids to a park for lunch and just go jump.  It was great, again perfect weather, quite little park.  There possibly is or is not pictures of trying out the balance gym with the boys!  While the kids were jumping at the jump place, I mentioned that I may head home by way of the strawberry patch just to see if we could possibly stop.  I'm glad I made that decision because the kids really enjoyed it.  We left with 2 buckets of strawberries, hot fried sweet potato pies, and 2 tired kids.  We can't leave out the best part of the day - Strawberry Shortcake with fresh strawberries for dessert.  Jordonna had her bucket of strawberries eaten by the next afternoon

Wednesday - The day the kids had waited for all week long. We were packed and ready for the beach.  First stop Dollar Store for kites and sand toys.  I didn't wear jeans but did put on a pair of capri's.  I regretted my decision the moment I opened the door at the beach.  It was SO COLD!!!  Thankfully, my hoodie was still in the car from the 2 prior days, and I packed an old blanket with beach towels, even though the kids would only be allowed to play in the sand and fly the kites.  We were wrapped up so tight but the kids just ran around having fun.  We walked down to the jetties and had a picnic lunch. (Are you sandwiched out yet?)

Thursday - Play days are over.  Today I had to CLEAN!  Thankfully, a friend was coming over with her nephew.  The kids had someone to play with and she was willing to help clean.  We cleaned every room (except play room), scrubbed bathrooms, washed sheets and LAUNDRY was washed and folded.  With the beautiful cool weather, we opened the windows for the day.  We were done by 1pm.  I could never have done it as quickly and as deeply as we cleaned, without her help.  That evening after a bike ride to baseball practice (had to have some fun somewhere in there) Jordonna helped me clean the playroom.  After walking up and down aisle after aisle picking strawberries, walking down to the jetties, cleaning the house, and the bike ride, my body was so sore!!!

Friday & Saturday - We were excited for this day.  We were ready to get to the farm.  Abi had her horse at the farm and the kids got to ride.  Jordonna rode every chance she could - she was so excited.  Saturday morning the big kids went to town with Nonnie and PawPaw.  I had plans to head to Brenham to get a new kitchen table.  This left Jordonna and Steven at the farm.  While no one would ever think that Jordonna would choose to stay with Steven, she did.  We are pretty sure he bribed her with horse rides.

Sunday - The day required everyone resting up and preparing to get right back into the swing of everything!
