A Week's Worth of Milestones

Jordonna's first year is flying by us and I keep trying to wrap my mind around the fact that I have a daughter some days still. She turned 9 months old today and in the past week has reached 4 milestones. Doesn't she know she should be spreading these things out a bit so I can enjoy this last "Baby's First Year" Here's the run down of all she did this past week:

1. Last Tuesday as we were cheering for a great play by the LJ Panthers, Jordonna joined in and clapped with us. It was the first time we had seen her do it. She must be a visual learner because we have tried and tried to get her to clap, but all she would do was stare at us like, "These people have LOST their minds."

2. Friday night is our night out with our great friends, Roger and Rowena plus their kiddos. As we were leaving the restaurant I say to Jordonna, "Tell Rena BYE." Of course I had only been trying my best to get her to do this action, I would get the same look from above - "These people have LOST their minds." But this time (as if she'd been doing it forever) she waves her arm and says "bye." Of course once again we were so excited, and she likes this reaction apparently, because she told everyone that passed by, "bye" and waved.

3. Jordonna has been pulling up for a few weeks now, on EVERYTHING! Then about a week ago, she was determined to let go and be on her own (against momma's wishes - I'm not ready for walking yet!) Sunday, she did it. She let go and stood for a good 15-20 seconds on her own and she now thinks she is hot stuff not having to hold on. No steps yet, thankfully!

4. Last night, she had already finished her dinner, but we sat down to eat ours. We were having Mexican cornbread and black beans. I was smashing the beans and feeding them one at a time to her. As I put a bean in her mouth, I felt something scrap me - it was her first tooth, bottom, left, front. Still too tiny to see, but definitely there.

She keeps going at this pace, there won't be any milestones left for the next 3 months. Today was her 9 month check up. She is at 18.2 lbs and 27 inches long. She is exploring new foods that we try after smashing them up good for her. She still loves her baby food along with the new yummy table foods. Her fave baby food is rice and lentils, just wish it wasn't $1 a jar and that only HEB had it. Her favorite table food - BROCCOLI! That's my girl! Maybe she won't have her daddy's gut and be a sweetaholic.

Headed to Tara's soon for our 9 month photo shoot. Check back soon for pics.
