I have a Mimi!

Jordonna says pretty much everyone's name. She knows Mommy, Bubba (which she uses for Dylan and Tony), Josh, Daddy (even though she doesn't use it very often unless she is really trying hard to sweet talk him), Poppy and PawPaw, but she would not say Nonnie (and we are still working on MawMaw although sometimes she will say Maw). Some would think that if she can say Mommy then Nonnie should be easy enough, but she wouldn't say it and I think we now know why...Nonnie did not suffice her!

Last Wednesday night my mom took the kids to church with her while I was at a late work meeting. When I came to pick them up and we were heading home, Jordonna starts asking "Where's my Mimi?" I was confused and asked "who?" "Mimi. My Mimi" and then she starts calling "MIMI" I asked her again "Where's Nonnie?" and she tells me "No, I have a Mimi!" And that is all it has been since. You can ask her if she has a nonnie or a mimi and her reply is "I have a Mimi."

Josh says my mom cried when I called and told her. For those that don't know, my grandmother (my mom's mom) was Mimi to all of her grandchildren. Mimi has been gone since Dylan and Josh were very little so Jordonna doesn't hear the name Mimi to have picked it up from adult conversation. So for her, out of the blue, to start calling my mom Mimi is very special! Tony has started to say it some just for Jordonna's benefit, but Dylan and Jordonna argue back and forth: Nonnie! No, Mimi! Nonnie! No, Mimi! I HAVE A MIMI! Dylan has to stand his ground - he started Nonnie and here comes Miss Priss and changes it. I smile everytime I hear her saying it because she sure to let people know they may have a Nonnie, but she has a Mimi!

Saturday we were shopping and to hear Jordonna call "MIMI" through the store in search of my mom was the sweetest sound and the smile on Jordonna's face while she says Mimi is priceless!

While my mom's grandma name may be up for debate it is a known fact that Nonnie/Mimi is loved by her grandkids!!!
