Burgers and Beach Night

Sunday evening we had friends over for burgers. Tara and Jason came with their kids, and the Lopez's joined us as well. We had a great time visiting and the kids ran around like crazy chickens enjoying each others company. We cooked the burgers, Rowena brought the veggies, and Tara was in charge of chips and dessert*. After burgers we were supposed to head out to the beach but because of all the rain we were unable to go, so instead we stayed and played cards. Our first attempt at a card game was 31 taught to us by Rowena, that didn't work out to well, so we all took our quarters back and played another game instead. Of course that didn't last any longer than 2 rounds when you have 3 little boys chasing each other and bounching giant balls all over the house, and you have 3 baby girls demanding your attention. Even though we cut that part of our evening short, we still loved having our friends over to hang out.

*Saturday afternoon I called Tara to ask her if she wants to bring dessert Sunday evening. Here is the converstaion:
T - What's up?
S - Not much. You?
T - Oh, burning some chocolate!

My first reaction was to say okay, well I was just calling to say see ya tomorrow and NEVER ask her to bring dessert :) Love ya, Tara! She did fine and this is what she brought -

4 kinds of ice cream and we broke out all the leftover
ice cream toppings from our End of Year Party - Baskins Robbins at home

Since we missed our beach night, we made it up to Tony on Thursday night. I had to work Thursday. Our instructional team had a retreat and met at Quintana park so everyone would be away from phones and computers. Being on the beach was an added bonus. Anyways, after our meeting our families joined us for hotdogs and time to play on the beach. Only bad part - the weather decided to turn ugly right at the end of our meeting and at the time that we were moving the food outside. Of course it didn't stop my kids - they still headed down to the beach. I had hoped to get pictures of Jordonna's tiny toes in the ocean for the first time, but by the time I finished visiting with everyone and took her down to the water, it was sprinkling pretty hard (some would actually call it rain). I didn't bother changing her into her swimsuit, instead I just took pictures of her on the boardwalk in front of the water - still incredibly cute! Tony loves the beach just as much as his older brothers do. I am a fan of the beach at the evening hours - no one is there, it is so cool, and as sun starts to set and it is getting dark, there is never any arguments about having to leave - its a wonderful 2 hours to end the day!

Tony playing in the sand - wonder what he is building?

Tony wasn't building anything, he was covering up Josh
(of course with the help of Dylan. Nice job, guys!)

I'm just thrilled that I finally found someone else who likes coffee ice cream.
