Christmas morning started at our house at 4am when a certain little girl came downstairs to tell us that Santa had come to our house. I wasn't quite awake yet, of course. She came back a few minutes later and had her itty bitty baby from her stocking. She was so excited and thankfully that was the only thing she messed with until everyone woke up. Richard likes the tradition of no gifts under the tree until Christmas morning, this includes what we give the kids. So you can imagine the surprise when they wake up and see Santa's gifts along with ours, too. Since no one else was awake yet, Jordonna said she was going to keep an eye on the presents and make sure Swipper (from Dora, the Explorer) did not swip any gifts from under our tree. I turned on Sprout and she finally feel back asleep on the couch until about 7am. Santa was very good to the kids this year - Dylan received an Acer Chromebook, Tony got an iPod Touch, Jordonna a LeapPad, and Josh (you would think another electronic with the others, right?) is getting a fitted set of specialty clubs. Santa could not bring those because you don't just pickup a club for a 6'2" kid. (Josh refused any pictures for fear they'd end up on FB. I'd never do such a thing - they end up on our blog..bwahahaha!!!)
Oh, and yes, Santa brought a trampoline for the kids. They have enjoyed this so much!
After opening presents, it was back to Nonnie and Pawpaw's house.
The kids opened their presents, while one pouted because she couldn't pass out gifts as quick as the others because they were reading names and she can't so they were beating her. She was upset.
Josh opened his special gift hand picked by Uncle Steve.
And then the adults did they $10 exchange - $5 exchange past few years, but let's face it, no one stuck to $5 this year so we will just call it $10. We enjoy this part of Christmas. It is fun trying to find something unique for each person for the price. Every adult buys a gift for every adult, so instead of just 1 large priced gift from drawing names, everyone gets 3-4 gifts. It is lots of fun.
This year PawPaw got a giant used container of Cheese Puffs. Steven couldn't remember what it was that PawPaw liked and could only remember 'cheese'. He saw these and thought this was it. When he bought them and walked out the store, Abi tore off the plastic ring and started eating them. When I was wrapping his presents, I asked why he bought those and not Cheese-Its. Jordonna came out a few minutes later and started eating them, quite a few before we realized she had gotten into them. So you can tell by the time they were unwrapped on Christmas morning, the grandkids had eaten quite a few. Steven did replace them with the correct favorite cracker snack.
And for Nonnie - I am not sure why I have never thought of this gift in all the years we have done this exchange, because we all know how much she loves the Yellow Taffy from this Halloween episode. After dinner, the kids played, but I had to lay down. I got one of my migraines and was in bed the rest of Christmas day - NO FUN! But the kids had a great Christmas, so it is all good! Merry Christmas from our family to yours.
