On the Thursday after Christmas, we loaded up and headed to Arlington. IT RAINED ALL DAY and ALL THE WAY THERE! The nice thing was that there was no traffic on the road so we drove straight through without any issues, we just had to deal with rain. I didn't even have to drive very long either because as we are going through Houston, the roads are wet from the drizzle all day to the point they look glossy. I was having issues seeing my lane and mentioned to Richard, "I'm okay. Just make sure I am in my lane." He couldn't handle that - ha!
We spent the night in Arlington and left the next morning with MawMaw and Poppy to spend the rest of our 5 days at Carl and Kendra's new house in Trophy Club. Sadly, I hadn't seen them since last Christmas, but the kids had seen them this past summer during their annual trip to MawMaw's when Carl and Kendra were still living with them.
After a day of playing, just hanging out, visiting, we let the kids open presents. During dinner, Tony mentioned that he was finally getting his football. MawMaw joked with him, "What, I was supposed to get a football?" You see his reaction below. He had waited and waited and just KNEW MawMaw would take care of a football and MawMaw never jokes so he was sure this was real.
Two seconds after opening the above present, "I like you again, MawMaw!" And that smirk on his face is telling us he didn't like the little joke earlier!
All the little cousins - big cousins are too cool for pictures and sadly Dylan could not go with us this year due to his job and some other conflicts. She is waiting to play Santa - she does not have time for pictures. She just wants to pass out presents and not have a repeat from Christmas at Nonnie's!
Precious Carter!
HA! We got a picture of you Josh and adorable Kennedy.
These 2 girls had the best time playing together for 5 days straight. We got a few glimpses as to what 14 and 15 will be like. I'll go hide in a closet!
"I LOVE IT!"
"Tony, I can play with your ball! PLEASSSEEEE!!!!"
Watch out Roller Derby - here we come!
And what better way to start off the morning than with a dose of PLAYDOUGH and cousins all lined up at the bar.
After breakfast, everyone bundled up. Tony tried out his football with Uncle Carl and Richard. Poppy got some practice in there too. Jordonna roller skated and did awesome for 3 years old! The kids rode bikes and just enjoyed as much time outside as they could before everyone was freezing. It was so cold, just too bad we were not here Christmas Day. We missed the White Christmas!
Each day there, we tried to get out a bit. One day we drove to Southlake so I could exchange my Vera Bradley makeup bag for the correct one. We stopped in Crazy 8 because everything in the store was $12.99 or LESS, not UP! We found the girls matching pink vest. While I walked down to Vera Bradley, everyone else waited at Starbucks. The kids were peaking in to see what Poppy was doing inside, but that poor lady reading the paper - she had to feel 3 pairs of little eyes "reading" over her shoulder. They remind me of little puppies begging to be let in from the cold.
We one evening we ran to rent a movie and just drive around to see the area. We stopped at a liquor store. Poppy said he didn't need any samples - he doesn't drink, but everytime we walked off he was trying the samples. Here he was busted!
New Year's Eve we headed over to Grapevine Mills and just let the kids be silly with anything that was free.
Okay, this one cost us 10 cents to roll pennies down and race each other.
And when you get to a photo booth that looks like you can get a preview for free, but not really, the next best thing is just to pose and take your own photo. One adventure was to Grapevine, TX. We stopped at "Hey, Sugar!" and let the kids pick out some candy.
Even Josh found some candy and an extra treat - Bacon Soda. He says it tasted like the bacon pieces that get burned in the bottom of the pan. Did you really expect it be tasty?
Besides my shingles breaking out and having a difficult time getting meds for them, it was a relaxing trip and so enjoyable. Until next time...thanks for having us, Consilio's!
