This was a great holiday weekend. It was restful and relaxed. No where to rush to and no demands. The weekend before the kids and I picked up dog food and cat food to donate to our local SPCA. In return Candy Boutique let them make a Easter candy basket. It was very simple, but the kids thought it was the best thing!
Easter weekend, we dyed Kool-aid eggs and rolled a few in shaving cream with food coloring. Changed it up a bit from the traditional egg dyes.
For Easter dinner, Tony requested steaks, Jordonna requested macaroni and cheese, and I wanted green bean casserole. I made baked potatoes and corn on the cob as well. HUGH DINNER, but sooo gooood! For dessert we had a pineapple upside down cake that was a fail. I didn't read the box carefully enough and put the cake in a pan too big. I should have made it in my cast iron skillet.
Of course we had the traditional egg hunt with candy filled eggs (we used the dyed eggs to make deviled eggs - why are those things called deviled?) and confetti eggs. Tony was certain that we helped Jordonna and that's why she has more eggs.
UPDATE: A week after Easter, I was washing my truck for a trip. Jordonna was helping me when all of the sudden she cracked a confetti egg on me. I figured it was leftover egg shell from the yard, but no! She had found an egg in the hitch of my truck. It must have been wedged in there pretty well to hang on all week.
