Easter 2011

We celebrated a wonderful Easter this year. Palm Sunday we enjoyed our church's annual Easter Egg Hunt - it was a great time with friends. Jordonna had a special outfit her Nonnie (Mimi) bought her on their last camping trip - she was so cute. We actually had family pictures taken that day and pictures with the Easter bunny.

Good Friday we spent most of the day around the house until that evening when I took the boys and Jordonna (who thinks she is as grown as those boys) went to the ball field for some "Homerun Derby" time. That evening we grilled a new family favorite - shish-ka-bobs.

Saturday was spent on the river at Nonnie and PawPaw's. The kids swam, rode the tube a few times, ate too many hot dogs, and dyed eggs and a few kids. The Simmons joined us this year. The boys enjoyed having friends out - Josh and Travis rode the tube, Dylan and Travis rode once (WITH JORDONNA!) and Richard and Tony even rode once. The world's longest game of Cowboy golf (actually round 3) was played where I FINALLY won! I guess I should give credit to Richard and Theresa - they each won a round too.

Easter Sunday we were off to church to participate in The Living Lord's Supper. This is the second year our church has done this production and it is truly a treat each year! After church, we headed back out to Nonnie and PawPaw's for a great Easter dinner, an egg hunt, and more time on the river.

This year, Nonnie tried something new with a few eggs. She saved the shells of a few eggs by only punching two small holes on each end of the shell and blowing the egg out. Then she boiled he egg shell. We could have dyed them, but she just spray painted the gold and stuffed them with $$$$$, then sealed the ends with tissue and glue - just like you would do to make homemade confetti eggs, but she made golden money eggs. She had 2 for each of the kids. Jordonna and Dylan went home with the most $$$ - $7 and $8. More about the golden eggs to come.

On Saturday I didn't get the chance to ride on the boat since I was caught up in the middle of THE LONGEST round of Cowboy golf, so today I made sure I was on the boat when it left. Dylan wanted to try to solemn ski which didn't work out - PawPaw couldn't take off fast enough to get him up, so Dylan did the wakeboard instead. We thought the boat didn't sound quite right, but PawPaw said it was okay. We still aren't sure what happened - the noise we heard or if he hit something in the water, but the boat died on us and we were stuck. Thankfully another boat stopped to help and towed us back to the house. I had Jordonna in my arms the entire time, sleeping and we were all crowded around the back of the boat. It was quite the sight! PawPaw and I told the couple towing us at least 3 times, we are right around this bend. Apparently we were much farther up the river than we thought.

From the egg hunt, everyone had a good collection of confetti eggs to get each other. Jordonna learned about them this year. She tried cracking them on some one's head, but the recipient only got a fist to the head. She found it was easier to just tear a hole in the tissue and pour the confetti on their head. I kinda prefer that than having an egg cracked on my head - usually isn't a pleasant feeling. Her daddy is still trying to get confetti out of his hair.
