Ziplines

Although I am posting this in the correct time slot (end of July 2010), I didn't write it until March 2011, which meant we had two visits to the ziplines since our original. Yes, we enjoyed it that much.

I shared this video on FB when it happened, but I hadn't posted it here yet, so for your viewing pleasure once again or for the first time:

The challenge course can only be done if you have ever done the original course. It's basically an obstacle course of ziplines and a few other challenges...like jumping from one tree to another, about 2 feet, but let's throw in one other factor - IT IS 70 FT IN THE AIR!!! Yeah, yeah they have my in a harness and I will just dangle from my harness if I don't make it and they put padding between each of the landings incase you bounce back and forth when you fall. Aww, thanks for being so considerate! I finally did it but not before I said some very potty mouth words to our course guides, especially when I finally basically stepped over the gap and she said, "Good, now go and JUMP across it this time." The crab crawl was easy for me, but Richard wobbled back and forth quite a few times.

No matter how many times they would tell you, "It's okay, you are attached with a harness," that harness means nothing. The mind has more power over matter!!!!! And you know what's even funnier now that I'm writing this almost 10 months later...had we fallen and had to depend on our harness it would not have been any different than when they tell you to jump off the platform and zipline to the next tree...we didn't have a problem doing that, but on the challenge course we couldn't allow our minds to have faith in our harnesses and do the challenge. CRAZY!

We actually have a family reunion planned in July just a couple miles away from the ziplines. Some are planning a day of ziplining then, perhaps Richard and I will try to challenge course once again, but better be prepared to have a day of rest the next because I remember how sore I was after the last challenge course!
