Happy 8th Birthday, Tony!

This little boy milked it for all it's worth for a WEEK!  On the actual day of his birthday Richard and I were both off so we brought Chick-fil-a and ate lunch with him at school.  Later that afternoon, right before school let out we took cupcakes to his class for them to share to help celebrate his special day.  That night we had dinner and of course it included the traditional "crazy hat" and free dessert.
He will be the first to tell you this was NOT his birthday dinner because he wanted to wait until MawMaw and Poppy were in town for that dinner.  During the week following his birthday, he woke up one morning and says, "Can we go get tacos at Bucee's because I haven't had my birthday breakfast yet?"  WHAT! We do a birthday dinner - each person, on their birthday chooses the resturant we eat at.  Where did lunch, breakfast and dinner come into that tradition? Crazy kid!!

When Tony got home from school he asked if he could open a present.  Since we were not having his birthday party until the following weekend I pretended to have one present.  At lunch my husband asked if I wanted to just toss out the sock basket and get new socks for everyone.  HECK YA!!!  So when Tony got home he opened socks and underwear.  He didn't have as much fun with it as we did. HA!!

So this weekend, MawMaw and Poppy came into town.  We had Tony's birthday dinner at Fuddruckers, OF COURSE because where else would he choose to eat on his birthday.  Then Mawmaw helped me prepare a few things for Tony's party.  He was having a swim party so we just did a swim theme.  We recovered water bottles and using my Cricut I cut out a phase from "Create a Critter."  SPLASH and some with a beach ball! Perfect for our swim theme.
We cut out shark fins for our shark cupcakes.  We also had "umbrellas" to make a few beach cupcakes.  The goodie bags had the same "splash" cut out with a beach ball that said "thanks for making a SPLASH with us today."
We served goldfish and mixed fruit out of beach buckets and used the shovels as the serving spoon.  My mom made a beach ball cookie cake.  This thing was a huge hit - so much so I came home with a dozen cupcakes!!  It was simply a refrigerator cookie dough, the spread was cream cheese and white chocolate, then fruit layered to resemble the beach ball.  For those who didn't want plain water, we had the individual drink mixes.

He had a couple cute girls show up at his party - Jordonna and Emri :)
