A Pinteresting Weekend

The little ones had been gone for over a week and by Friday afternoon, I needed something else to keep my mind off of the quiteness in the house.  A friend joked the other day and mentioned that we pin things everyday, but we should set a goal to do at least 1 pin each week.  I could easily do that.  It would also remind to search my pins.  Just tonight I found some I had totally forgotten about because come on - I can't keep up with over 1,000 ideas.  Up on my Pinterest "To Do" list...

1. A 4th of July tee for Jordonna for Wednesday.  This was so simple and technically I could count this as 2 pinterest projects because of the design on the shirt and the bow itself came from another link.

2. Behavior Jar from Tip Junkie on Pinterest.  Tony and Jordonna both received a jar with their initial.  As they follow expectations, use their manners, and help around the house, we add colorful pompoms to their jar.  Once the jar is filled they receive a reward - could be a snocone, redbox movie, or a trip to Dollar Tree to pick a prize.

3. Monogram for my office.  Not sure if this really was an idea from Pinterest or not.  I've pinned a few monograms, but I found this paper to match some of the items I've already selected for my office and it matched.  I guess you could say it was a project because I do know that my favorite silk flower came from a Pinterest idea.

4. Project #4 we did as soon as the kids got home.  I had paint and craft sticks ready for them.  Daddy even painted with us and now we have 4th of July flags hanging up all over our living room.  I should make them into a garland and hang them on the mantle - another idea I saw on Pinterest.
(I'm beginning to wonder if I ever had any ideas of my own prior to Pinterest?)

The kids have really enjoyed their behavior jar.  They pick up their toys before bed, they have helped with dishes both evenings, Tony has only had one episode of whining/meltdown, and they work well together so they both can earn a pompom in their jar.  Josh joked that he really like the pom pom jar idea too - he hasn't had to unload or load the dishes in 2 days - he could really get spoiled.

And as for other Pinterest ideas I am putting to use right now...just this evening I sat down and decided on 6 activities that I can put in a box, wrap it up and send it with the two littles when they go to MawMaw and Poppy's house to spend the week with them and Aunt Kendra, Uncle Carl, Kennedy and Carter in two weeks.  (As Aunt Kendra said this evening - since they are all living under the same roof currently - let the chaos begin) Each day the 4 kids will get to open one package from Aunt Sandra and have a fun activity to break up the momentum of the day.  So far on the list we have:
Monday – 2 Liter Sprinkler

Tuesday –pom pom poppers
Wednesday – paper plate paddle ball
Thursday – Marshmallow Painting and S’mores
Friday –  frozen balloons – melt to discover prize inside, pop balloons to get $ for ice cream while balloons freeze

Friday's activity was strategically placed since there won't be anything left from the activity and the kids should be heading home on Saturday.  The other day's activities can always be reused to spice up the day.  I wish I could enjoy the week with all of them - I know the kids are all ready talking about their week and that Kennedy is counting down the days until Tony and Jordonna arrive.

What Pinteresting things have you done lately?
