Feathered Friends

The other evening Richard was working late, Dylan stayed late at school, and Josh and Tony went home with Nonnie. Jordonna and I were on our own, but not interested in just hanging out at the house since dinner was ready in the crockpot. We decided to visit our friends Rena and Emri. I never have enough time to see Rena now that she is split between 2 campuses and I'm not on a campus, but all over the place. It was a surprise visit, but I enjoyed the time just sitting at the kitchen table visiting, while the girls played. It was getting late and we were about to leave when Rena found a "turkey feather" home project that Emri had to decorate with her family. Rena doesn't have many supplies for that so we all loaded up and headed to our house to decorate the feather.

I had been working on some journal orders so I had pretty much anything you can imagine to use out in their site and they were ready to use it all. Emri and Jordonna working together were so cute! Watching these two work reminded me of a few years ago when their brothers were this age and we did a countdown to Christmas

They did a little stamping, we cut out her name and a turkey on the Cricut, they added some rhinestones with help from Rena, painted some tail feathers, then we let them go on their own by gluing colored squares where ever they wanted. This was a "family project" but our goal was that Emri did much of it on her own - not one of the obvious ones where mom took over. The girls were very excited about the project. Jordonna wanted a feather of her own, but she decided to just get creative with all the scrapes of whatever she could find.
I love Jordonna's face in this picture - she is so proud of her "project." We have carried this thing everywhere with us this week. If it gets misplaced she will ask, "where is my pojec?"

Thank you Lopez's for spending the evening with us, it was confirmation of how much I miss you!
