Dylan had an interview this afternoon so I only worked a half day (did you see that smile on my face??). When I got home, I was not in the mood to just be indoors, but I didn't have a car, now that Dylan took off, to go anywhere with the kids, so time for a plan. I wanted to work on some journals for a couple of ladies at work that had bought some from me, but the kids were all in my scrapbook things and that was not working. As I was putting away an old science fair board that was in the room, I thought, perhaps they could paint on this. I had seen a recipe for finger paint using cornstarch so that's what we did....made cornstarch finger paint, took paint, brushes (because Tony wanted a brush, not fingers), and board outside under a large tree in our back yard and we were set to paint.

Do you see that precious yellow hand print at the top? Well the one who didn't want it on their hands - that is his! They had this entire thing covered by the time they finished. They are proudly displaying it on our porch right now. Tony has asked to paint the back tomorrow...ha! Clean up was easy - turned on the sprinkler.
Here's the recipe I used:
1/2 cup cornstarch
3 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups cold water
food coloring
Mix ingredients in a pan on medium heat. Stir while cooking (~10 minutes) until thick. Separate into bowls, color, and let cool. Store with a tight lid. One recipe I have seen is to color it with gelatin.
Have I mentioned or perhaps my mom has mentioned it to you - I do not like my camera - mom doesn't either! In a dream world I am not in a career in education where a raise to buy a new camera is nonexistent. One day, one day! (that is I'll have a new camera, not a new job - I LOVE MY J-O-B!!!!, just stinks that our nation and state are where they are when it comes to this taboo subject of funding education)
