Jordonna has quite a few tutu's - a Halloween one, a pink one, one for her Tinkerbell costume, and a few others in between that have been tossed due to wear (which the pink one is soon destined for). She also has a ballerina doll that is just a bit bigger than a barbie - J calls it Soft Baby. Soft Baby has a tiny tutu and today J wanted her baby doll to wear Soft Baby's tutu.
Ummm, it doesn't fit! Of course she was upset, whining for a tutu for her baby so she dug out
her's.
Ummm, too big - another fit from a determined 2 year old. As I was picking up her tutu, I remembered I made it out of an elastic headband - it fits J perfect. I wear elastic ponytail holders - it would fit baby perfectly! And that is what we did...

The larger band is what I use when I make Jordonna's tutu's. The smaller is the ponytail holder. I cut various colors of tulle into lengths of 4". Then alternating colors, I tied the tulle around the elastic and knotted it. Scrunch it up together so that you don't have any gaps when you put the tutu on. ~15 minutes later you are done and your baby doll now has a tutu to match your daughters.

Jordonna was so excited that her baby had a tutu that she hasn't let the baby out of her sight since it was put on the baby. So glad I made her smile today :)
(Excuse J's tutu - this is the pink I referred to earlier that is going to get new tulle soon!)
