Making Room

Every year at Christmas, when we get ready to put the tree up, furniture always gets moved around. One of the biggest moves I am getting ready to make are the 2 little kids bedrooms. Jordonna was our little surprise almost 3 years ago. We had only been in our house 1 year and everyone had a room - no more sharing. Where would we put the baby. She slept in our room for the first 18 months or so, then moved into a big girl bed. Tony uses one of the twins from a set of bunk beds we have and her big girl bed is the other - which comes with a nice side rail when used as the top bunk, for a little one like her it is great at keeping her from rolling out during the night.

As I get ready to set up and clean up and move around for Christmas, I am anxious to move her upstairs, but that means Tony and her must share a room, but just for sleeping purpose. My goal is to move his toy box and shelf to her room and make the sun room that she has been sleeping in, a play room. We have a hutch in there we can get rid of and move the bed upstairs.

The problem - I love Tony's little boy room. Dark blue walls on bottom with a beautiful red chair rail and beige on top. Sports all around! But it will just be for them to sleep so I can work around that and it's not forever because sadly Dylan will be 18 in 2 months! YIKES (change subject before I go into cardiac arrest!)

I don't want to paint walls. Tony will keep his adorable metal sports artwork, not sure what I will put on her side, but I did find these canvases I want to recreate for their room. The crayon colors will go with the walls colors perfectly. I want to do the first one or the second and put between 2 of the third picture. I'm thinking of laying out the shaved crayons in a pattern that's just for them - just not sure what yet. Something more than their initials. Any ideas?

As for bedding, red for J and blue for Tony. I would love red polka dot sheets for her bed. Not sure Tony would go for polka dot sheets, maybe a blue plaid?

Now just to see how far I get with my ideas. I have tons of creative ideas for my house in my head, but they never seem to pan out, sadly.

Ahh, I could even do a red polka dot around the edge for J's and blue and white squares (to match plaid) around Tony's.

Ok, now to remember where I found those cheap canvases a few months ago - it was a dollar store somewhere. But I think Hobby Lobby may even have them 2 for $5??

Who's gonna keep my accountable on carrying this out?
