To Pull a Tooth or Pull a Child from a Tree?

After a day of relaxing at the farm we had to head home to bring Tony back to the dentist (and I still needed to start cleaning) Tony was knew he had to leave the farm before anyone else. Tony knew he was going to the dentist. He knew that he would most likely get a tooth pulled. Best way to avoid all of that - up a tree.

It was a great solution for him, but not me. We needed to leave by 11 to make it back on time. He could not get his footing right to come back down. Fortunately, Dylan was passing by with the tractor so we had him stick the bucket right under the branch that Tony was standing on. Talk about FREAK OUT! Josh could not get near him, no one could talk to him with out him going nuts and he was not about to step foot off a branch into a tractor bucket, either. In the picture you see my brother standing underneath the tree encouraging him (not sure that is the best word - Uncle Steve picks!) What you don't see is Steven leaving that spot and climbing the tree. I have it all on video but Tony was so upset and mad that we will save it for his wedding...ha! In the video you don't see anyone but Josh and Tony. Then in 1/2 a second Steven flips around the trunk of the tree and grabs Tony and drops him in the bucket. Done. Pulled the child from the tree. Bring him back down to the ground, calm him down, get him in the car...we now have a tooth to pull from said child. If the tree was this hard, I can only imagine what the dentist will be like!

Tony has had a special tooth since he was 2 yrs old. He was running around the house with his brothers and fell against the coffee table. It resulted in an ER visit, stitches in his lip and a missing tooth. At least we thought a missing tooth until it was all cleaned up then we saw the tooth was shoved up in the gum. We waited for years for the tooth to come back down, thinking it would be loose and fall out once it did. No it stayed put until about a month ago when on the playground Tony and another little boy collided into one another. Instant loose tooth but then the tooth started to tighten up again so the dentist was called. They weren't too concerned about it and said it should fall out eventually. HELLO??? You obviously have not read our file to see how long we have waited to fill this gap, get rid of the awkward tooth hanging out in there and now it is sitting sideways and sticking out...please just pull it.

I prepared for melt down but Tony was so silly and cooperative and talked with the dental assistant and dentist. He never moved during any part of the procedure. I think I need some special teeth - they bring in $5 from the tooth fairy!

Lesson learned today: Pulling a child from a tree is not as easy as pulling the kid's teeth!
